FREE PRINCESS PAULINE

Tragedy has struck and I don’t know which way to turn, the woman who I worship Princess Pauline Hanson has been sent to jail for 3 years. Bronwyn Bishop says that Pauline is a political prisoner and even the tree hugging announcers on the ABC say that the sentence is a disgrace. I will now commit my site “Bubba’s Broadside” to the freeing of Pauline Hanson. I think the combination of Rugby and Pauline Hanson will prove a potent mix, both are extremely attractive with large numbers of over zealous fans.

I first met Pauline Hanson when she dropped in for a drink and a game of pool at the nightclub I was bouncing at, in Ipswich, Brisbane. I got my photo taken with Pauline and I will never forget the sight of her shapely legs as she lent across the pool table for each shot. How a Queensland jury found her guilty I really don’t know, after all she is practically Queensland Royalty. The only explanation is that 12 ABC listeners and Democrat/Greens voters found their way onto the jury and stitched her up. You can get the campaign rolling by leaving a message of support for Pauline on my message board. I will be writing to Pauline and telling her to log onto “Bubba’s Broadside” and hopefully the heart felt messages of support will lift her spirits.

Onto Rugby and last week’s topics of discussion were the Wallabies narrow loss to the All Blacks, Wallabies having limited Club outings, World Cup tickets and Eddie Jones going for a coaching holiday in Japan. First of all the Wallabies did stand up and be counted at Eden Park last week. I have been one of their biggest critics but I am the first to concede that they did have a go and it was good to see.

Greg Growden and Spiro Zavros really put a dampener on proceedings by saying that the Wallabies will do it tough in the World Cup because we have no players who would qualify for a current World XV. I tend to agree with them, the performance in Auckland was much improved but I stand by my statement at the start of the season when I said that the Trophy cabinet would be empty at the end of this year. If you missed your chance to see the Bledisloe Cup and can’t afford a flight to Wellington to view it, make sure you see the World Cup before it goes as well. You will either be travelling to Wellington or London to view it after November.

I think the flak Eddie Jones copped for travelling to Japan this week was uncalled for. The Wallabies had always had scheduled a rest week and if Eddie decided to spend it in Japan coaching, well good luck to him. Of course he probably copped a good cash incentive for doing it but it is a free country and if you want to work in your holidays then it is your own business.

The ARU management have also copped a serve for restricting the Wallabies Club games up until the World Cup. I am not so critical because the reality is that the cupboard is bare in terms of class players. Imagine if Larkham or Kefu got hurt in a club game, we would really be stuffed for the World Cup. I think the case-by-case basis for player availability is a good policy. I see that Sailor is very happy he is not playing Club Rugby, he is obviously relieved because the boys at Club level would also show him up in defence. Sailor must have worked over time on Eddie convincing him he did not have to play Club Rugby, what a joke he is the bloke who needs Club games the most.

Up until last week I had no tickets to the World Cup, imagine my surprise when I went into Ticketek last week and picked up some tickets. I got 4 tickets to the Fiji/France game in Brisbane and 4 tickets to the Argentina/Namibia game in Gosford. I am really looking forward to the Fiji/France game in Brisbane, it will be great to catch up with all the old gang up there. France are a real dark horse for the World Cup they are currently at 10-1, which is very good odds considering the strength of their squad.

I got an email from Captain Ron last week; he made it out of India with his kidneys intact. He is currently in Kenya and I last heard from him 4 days ago, which is unusual because he emails me every day. I hope he has not become a statistic in Kenya, knowing Ron’s penchant for Red Light districts he would have headed there straight from Nairobi airport. The problem is that many tourists simply disappear in Kenya, I hope the next time I see Ron is not in a Kenyan snuff movie.

Keep posting your messages on the message board, Rugby or supporting Princess Pauline both are welcome. Stonefish if you are reading this I need your photo for the Ugliest Man in the Universe competition, if you don’t send it soon you will miss out and Ossie and I will be the only entrants.
